Public Safety
This is really the foundation of my number one issue – you can’t have a strong community without public safety. We need to look globally at the issues and provide public services and parks along with improved public safety. We need better infrastructure and housing that is more affordable. We should focus on these issues together, not in separate silos as so often happens.
Regionalizing public safety services in Sparks, Nevada, offers a compelling strategy for optimizing taxpayer dollars. By consolidating resources and personnel with neighboring jurisdictions, Sparks can unlock economies of scale and reduce duplication of services. This translates to greater efficiency in critical areas such as dispatch, training, and equipment procurement, ultimately lowering operational costs and relieving the burden on taxpayers.
Throughout my 20-year career in fire and law enforcement, I’ve consistently sought out opportunities to develop leadership and administrative skills. I’ve worked my way up through the ranks, starting in patrol and transitioning to investigations, where I handled large and complex cases, including the explosion at Argenta Hall at UNR and cases involving serial arsonists. I’ve also risen through the ranks in public safety, culminating in my role as your Assistant State Fire Marshal. Throughout my career, I’ve patrolled our streets, fought fires across Northern Nevada, managed teams, coordinated complex operations, and implemented efficient resource allocation strategies. My dedication to public safety and my proven ability to make sound decisions under pressure make me an ideal candidate for this administrative role.

Managing Growth
The rapid growth of Sparks has outpaced the development of our public safety infrastructure, leaving our fire and police departments struggling to keep up. Despite their dedication, our first responders are stretched thin, leading to longer response times, increased caseloads, and an unsustainable strain on personnel. This not only compromises the safety of our residents but also threatens the quality of life that has attracted so many to our city.
We’ve seen firsthand the strain on our infrastructure, the congestion on our roads, the increasing demand for housing, and the pressure on our resources. While growth can be a sign of a thriving community, it’s clear that our current trajectory is unsustainable.
We need to ensure that our infrastructure can support our existing population, that our roads are safe and efficient, that our housing is affordable and accessible, and that our resources are protected.
Toll roads are not the answer. My opponent has voted to support them. I do not.
Improve Community
This is really the foundation of my number one issue – you can’t have a strong community without public safety. We need to look globally at the issues and provide public services and parks along with improved public safety. We need better infrastructure and housing that is more affordable. We should focus on these issues together, not in separate silos as so often happens.
Our city’s rapid growth has also eroded the sense of community that once defined Sparks. To restore this, we must prioritize initiatives that foster genuine connection and belonging among our residents. My focus is on:
- Investing in our existing neighborhoods. This means enhancing our parks and recreational spaces, supporting local businesses, and improving access to essential services like healthcare and education.
- Promoting civic engagement. This means encouraging residents to participate in local government, volunteer their time, and contribute to community projects. By empowering our residents to have a voice in the decision-making process, we foster a sense of ownership and investment in the future of Sparks.
- Address the housing crisis. The lack of attainable housing is a significant barrier to community building.
- Celebrate our diversity. Sparks is a city rich in culture and heritage, and we must embrace this diversity as a source of strength.
We can do this by supporting cultural events, promoting inclusivity, and celebrating the contributions of all residents. By fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment, we create a community where everyone feels valued and respected.
